Rooney and Ronaldo star in Nike World Cup advert

  • New advert for 2010 World Cup showcases top stars heading to South Africa
  • Ronaldhino also in advert despite not making Brazil squad

Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney stars in Nike’s latest advert ahead of this summer’s World Cup in South Africa.

Rooney’s former United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo also appears, as does Chelsea frontman and Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba.

Nike have once again produced another gem of a football advert, with ‘Write the Future’ showcasing the fine line between success and failure.

The advert from Nike also contains a cameo role for Homer Simpson from the American family sitcom ‘The Simpsons’.

The doorbell rings and Homer goes to answer it, only to be amazed that it’s Real Madrid’s Ronaldo at the door. Homer gasps and says “Ronal-” before the animated Ronaldo nutmegs him, forcing Homer to exclaim “doh!”.

The only negative point from the advert is the inclusion of AC Milan’s Ronaldinho.

The Brazilian striker failed to make Dunga’s World Cup squad and so, unfortunately, won’t be heading to South Africa next month.
